XSEED Education, a Singapore based K-12 education startup has today announced an agreement to acquire the online education and learning management business of Pleolabs, an Indian education technology startup for an undisclosed valuation.

XSEED Education is an innovative K-12 startup focused on enhancing school learning with high-quality proprietary curriculum, training, and assessment capability. XSEED’s learning programs raise the level of learning in classrooms by integrating well-researched curriculum with ongoing teacher development, application-oriented student resources and skill-based assessment. And Pleolabs is a young technology startup that empowers teachers, students, parents & administrators with new age technology solutions for better learning experience and management with Gopleo – a rapidly deployable, easy to use and manage social learning platform that digitizes a school’s entire learning cycle from planning to student engagement, assessments, outcomes analysis and individual improvement.

Speaking on the acquisition, Anustup Nayak, Vice-President, XSEED Education said “The acquisition of Pleolabs signals an important step in the development of the XSEED Cloud School and personalized learning for children that is focused on thinking skills. Gopleo brings on board great user and process management architecture that integrates well with our curriculum, teaching and assessment capabilities.

Their team will bring solid technological expertise and entrepreneurial energy to XSEED.”

XSEED intends to enhance the scale and impact of its successful school-learning program by building a digital learning eco-system that enables learning for every child through interactive engagement, differentiated curriculum and real-time assessment. Pleolab’s ‘GoPleo’ product, built around applications to facilitate management of curricular resources, academic process workflows and collaborative learning interactions, will enable XSEED to fast-forward the deployment of its well-researched learning process within a scalable cloud-based application infrastructure.

The transaction is expected to close in April 2015, and is subject to customary closing conditions. Kshitij Chopra and Yash Sahay, co-founders of Pleolabs, will be joining XSEED as key members of the core technology product development team.

Kshitij Chopra, co-founder of Pleolabs, said, “We set out to build a great education product that would change the way schools manage the learning life-cycle. We see our partnership with XSEED as a continuation of that journey. Besides our shared values, the team at XSEED brings a solid understanding of how to improve learning in the classroom and has a proven ability to scale in the schools market.” Yash Sahay, added, “Having spent the last two years developing a solid technology platform we are truly looking forward to working alongside the XSEED team. Together, we expect to rapidly spread our impact by utilising XSEED’s considerable learning resources and integrating delivery across multiple platforms.”
