Mr. Larcombe spent most of his working life at 3i, a world leader in venture capital and private equity with an international network operating in Europe, The United States and Asia. He joined 3i in 1974 and worked for 18 years onidentifying, appraising and negotiating investment opportunities. In 1992, he was appointed Director of Finance and Planning and in 1997, he was appointed Chief Executive. He retired from 3i in 2004.
Mr. Larcombe has sat on the boards of many public and private companies and served on various business and educational councils and is a past Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association. He is an Honorary Fellow of the London Business School. His past directorships include Cape plc, F&C Asset Management, Gallaher Group plc, Gategroup Holdings, Incisive Media, Kodak Alaris, Party Gaming and Smith & Nephew. He was educated at Bromley Grammar School, The University of Birmingham and Harvard Business School.
